Twitter: What it has revealed to the public

I had the most dynamic conversation bright & early this morning, about 1 am to be exact, with @MrFortune500 . We talked about people in the industry & these melt downs "celebs" have had over the net. Letting people see their vulernable side. Its made me want to update my blog, which ironically is titled "When Dreams Become Nightmares, $hit somebody wake me up!" (yes, I know the title is long, but that's what I felt like @ the time.)

Anyhoo, what I gathered via twitter & ustream is that like the rest of the world some of these "celebs" are standing on what Green Day described as "Blvd of Broken Dreams". The only thing is they have "the money, cars, the clothes, the hoes, I suppose" or what they think is success. Sometimes what you think is success, is nothing more than a pawn to lure you further into a game that very few are winning. Sometimes you think success is a blessing, but really its a front row seat to hell. How many times have you said If I only Had this, everything would be okay, but when you got it, everything was NOT okay. With it came more responsibility. Was it Biggie who said, "Mo, Money, Mo Problems", it rangs true for these celebs.

According @MrFortune500 the way things are supposed to work is that in the industry its tied to hell. Its like there's a pile of diamonds in hell and your supposed to go once and get as much as you can the first time and return. Most people in the industry don't go once, they get greedy and they keep going back. It gets to the point that they sell their souls to the devil to keep playing in the pile. Then they ended up battling demons for their life, which in turns becomes a rant on ustream or twitter. You're sitting at your computer screen watching these fools act a hot mess not realizing they are at battle with a host of demons. It's a mere cry for help, that most of us joke about or say he's on something. I'm not going to name any names but a good majority of these folks have weak foundations upon entering the game, if they do have strong foundations they quickly become tested over & over again.

I'll update this as I go along and witness more nerevos breakdowns via twitter.

Just remember every time you open your mouth, you let the world inside your mind!

Why Did I Get Married?

A+

I loved it so much I have seen 3 Times!!!

Jay Z vs. Chris Brown

Jay Z should do himself and the rest of the world a favor. That is of course STAY RETIRED!! Not interested in your album, but the movie is something to SEE! Word on the street is that Chris Brown is expected to beat Jay-Z in sales for the first week. Well, when you think about it general people would buy the Jay-Z album from the bootleg man, while these hot thangs, also known as young, horny teenagers, are going to spend their parents money to purchase Chris Brown's album! We'll see!

The Black Out

Last week they tried to have a Black Out, where black people were supposed to not purchase items from places that weren't black owned. I don't think it was a success for so many reasons. My top three reasons being :

1) It was the first of the month!! Rent had to be paid, bills had to be paid, and food had to be bought! Some people can't wait until the first of the month! They were dying to get to the store and get the things they needed for their households!
2) Truly for anything of this magnitude to work you need better planning and make sure everyone knows why it's being done. Alot of people called into radio shows wanting to know the justification in them not spending money on that day.
3) You need more than just one day to show America how valuable our spending is to the economy. For this to really work, it should have been the entire weekend, not just ONE day!

Those are my reasons why I think it didn't work, besides the MAIN factor that Black people as a whole have lost sight of what community is. We had just as good as neighborhoods as other races until the 70's hit. That "it takes a village to raise a child" days are so past us now.

Friendships

I remember as a kid being told, "Treat people the way you want to be treated", but it seems that never really sticks with children. Yes, everyone does NOT receive that message from their parents, but a some damn point in your life somebody has given you that message.

I guess my problem is always wanting to treat people nicely, with respect while maintain a realist approach to every situation. College, of course, gets you to start critically thinking about every piece of life. Over time I've had to evaluate several friendships and decide if the person and their attitude or whatever they bring to our friendship was worth me keeping them around. Some people got the boot and others are approached from a different angle. Knowing how much of what I should say or do around these people.

So as I rap up these reflections on friendships, I have realized you have to treat people the way the want to be treated. They don't call you unless they need something, you return the favor and not call them until you need something. They don't show up to things you invite them to, cool, but please remember you will have an event and I will return the favor of not showing up!!

Here are some great quotes:

One friend in a lifetime is much; two are many; three are hardly possible. Friendship needs a certain parallelism of life, a community of thought, a rivalry of aim.
Henry Adams
The difficulty is not so great to die for a friend, as to find a friend worth dying for.
Homer
Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down.
Oprah Winfrey
I value the friend who for me finds time on his calendar, but I cherish the friend who for me does not consult his calendar.
Robert Brault
Friends never betray you, only people you thought were your friends.
